Gimbels long ride stopped and ticketed by Bedford Police
Here’s an email from Bruce Wells:
Dale,
Thought you might like to know that Gimbels long was ticketed by
Bedford Police at the Shell station. The long group was down to about
16 riders after some did the Chestnut Ride cut off. 5 riders were out
in front by 15-20 seconds, the remaining 11 riders made the green
lights going under 684. From my perspective, toward the rear, then
middle of the pack, it was a normal ride with very little bunching up
and no one really riding more than 2 across. The officer pulled us
over at the Shell station and let the front 5 riders go (it always
pays to be in the break). He took our names and addresses and took
close to an hour to write us all tickets for riding more than 2
abreast.
We all have the same court date and plan to plead not guilty. Not one
of the riders remembers riding more than 2 across.
